The Edmonton Healing Centre, a program of Jewish Family Services, provides individual and family counselling, as well as ongoing groups throughout the year, for those experiencing grief and loss. You do not need to be Jewish to access our services! Our individual and family counselling program supports people with a range of experiences in addition to their grief, often including historical trauma, abuse, or situational difficulty that is preventing their ability to function well. Clients are either referred from other community agencies or professionals, or they are self-referred. A sliding scale with reduced fee is available for those who need this. All of our counsellors have a specialization in the area of grief and loss.
The EHC also offers specialized grief groups for organizations or other private groups who are experiencing grief and loss. Our regular programming includes three levels of bereavement support groups, offered from September through June each year, as well as a monthly drop-in bereavement support group.
Recently, we also developed an online course to support individuals in the community with healing in their grief. This course will guide persons who are grieving through the process of grief and give them more understanding and skills to navigate their experience and it will teach them how to communicate their experience and needs to others. To access the online course, contact the Counselling Program Manager ([email protected]) for more information.
